In addition to finishing this piece, I have been revisiting wood-burn as a medium to explore my interest in Japanese Woodcuts.
Using sinker cypress boards recycled from a local carpenter, I am currently working on a collection of these "American Myths and Monsters." Above is the Louisiana Swamp Monster also known as the "Rougarou."
Also in regards to the "illuminated applications", I was not accepted into that assistant-ship. So with a few more months before the next series of applications, its time to buckle down into another make-season. Emerging in Art certainly is an emotional roller-coaster. I'm starting to save the letters for a future show "Rejected" At least I do have a studio of my own to work in, I just wish I had the time and focus an art grant, assistant ship, or graduate program would give me.
