The past few months I've been working frantically to meet several deadlines. While working on the Mic Price doll (formally known as Holy Book) I consistently needed to fill the kiln to make each firing worth the cost. To that end I created 45 cups, in order to pick five to enter in the Shaw Center: 8 Fluid Oz show. These are some of the styles I experimented with. I'm still working out the details with the decals, which are sepia and do not show up on the brown clay body.
The Mic Price ball-joint doll was finished just in time to submit to Penland School of Crafts. Inspired by a young local rap artist Mic Price.
I want to utilize this blog to explore expressing my ideas, and to define an art movement born of a collective love of Near and Far Eastern cultures.
